AMITY FILM MAKING WORKSHOP FOR "STREET CHILDREN"
Film Making Workshop by students and faculty of asco.......a step towards humanity!
MOTIVE:
This workshop involved student volunteers who with the help of the staff in-charges identified this organization for the underprivileged and a 2 day workshop on film making. The main motive for our workshop was to bring out the inner talent of the children in Prayas.
DAY 1:
AMITIANS soon after reaching Prayas were introduced with Priyanka, the manager of Prayas along with the children. The first source of communication with the kids was music. We carried on the meeting with an interactive session about films and television where we came to know their perception about films. We then proceeded with the screening of a film named “The Red Balloon”.
After a short break, we thought of getting more out of those children and thus planned for some Mime performances from them. We instantly divided ourselves into two groups along with the kids. Then after, we taught them how to act without dialogues [only expressions and body movements]. After few minutes of rehearsal and guidance, they came up with excellent performance!
By the end of the day we had another interactive session with them and asked them to come up with ideas and storyline of a film. It was a real good experience listening to the kind of stories they came up with.
DAY-2:
We finally started with the film making workshop with the children. It included basic knowledge about the camera, the different angles, shots, and other basic technicalities and functioning of a camera. Next we started up with our work in two different groups in which one catered to documentary film making and the other catered to fiction film making. Kids not only did the technical work like direction and camerawork, but they also became a part of the film by acting in it.
OUTCOME:
The outcome of the workshop was that we shot 2 individual films, one documentary and the other fiction. The point to be noted here is that these films were made by the children themselves with the help of the students of amity.
